Strong match

Who this is for

  • Nearfield setups in rooms under roughly 12 by 14 feet
  • Extending 5-inch or 6-inch monitors down past their rolloff
  • Bass-heavy mixing where 40Hz decisions matter

Consider the trade-offs

When to look elsewhere

  • Large rooms or long listening distances
  • Anyone without XLR outputs on their interface
  • Home theater use with consumer RCA sources

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

28Hz to 150Hz response

Reaches low enough for sub-bass in electronic and hip-hop work, not just kick-drum body.

Detail 02

Variable 50 to 150Hz crossover

You can match the handoff to whatever monitors you own instead of accepting a fixed point.

Detail 03

Switchable 85Hz satellite filter

High-passes your main monitors so they stop working below 85Hz. Cleans up their midrange.

Detail 04

Balanced XLR inputs only

Interface needs balanced XLR outs. No RCA or TRS connection without adapters.

Detail 05

160W/240W amplifier

Enough headroom that the 8-inch driver stays clean at monitoring levels rather than compressing.

Detail 06

26.4 lb, 10 by 16 by 15 inches

Floor-standing footprint. Small enough to tuck near a desk, heavy enough to stay put.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Sold individually. One sub is standard for stereo monitoring.
  2. 02Needs XLR cables to and from the sub, not included.
  3. 03Placement drives results more than the sub. Budget time for positioning.

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Do I need one sub or two?

One. Low frequencies below the crossover are effectively non-directional, so a single sub handles both channels. The sub takes your stereo feed and passes filtered signal back to both monitors.

02How do I connect my monitors through it?

Interface outputs go to the sub via balanced XLR, then the sub feeds your monitors. This lets the 85Hz satellite filter roll off the monitors' low end.

03What room size does this suit?

Small to mid-size control rooms. In a large space the 8-inch driver runs out of output before it runs out of extension. The Sub12 covers larger rooms.

04Can I use it with a home stereo?

Inputs are balanced XLR only, so consumer RCA gear needs adapters. It is built for a studio signal chain, not a receiver.
