Independent shopping perspective

The Korena take

12-inch powered studio sub with 22Hz extension. For larger control rooms and work where sub-bass content has to be audible, not inferred.

Strong match

Who this is for

  • Mid to large control rooms with real listening distance
  • Mixing electronic, hip-hop and film where 25Hz content matters
  • Pairing with larger main monitors that need matched output

Consider the trade-offs

When to look elsewhere

  • Small bedroom studios where it will overwhelm the room
  • Anyone who has to move it regularly at 57 lb
  • Setups without balanced XLR outputs

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

22Hz to 150Hz response

Six Hz lower than the Sub8. That range covers the bottom octave of synth bass and low film effects.

Detail 02

12-inch coated paper woofer

Moves far more air than an 8-inch. Delivers low end at volume without the driver straining.

Detail 03

200W sine, 300W RMS

Headroom to drive the larger cone cleanly at the levels a bigger room needs.

Detail 04

Rear-mounted gain and filter controls

You set level and crossover by hand at the cabinet. Plan access behind it before final placement.

Detail 05

57 lb, 14 by 24 by 18 inches

A two-person lift and a real floor footprint. Decide placement before you carry it in.

Detail 06

Balanced XLR inputs

Studio-level connection. Consumer RCA sources need adapters and a level change.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Sold individually. One handles stereo low end.
  2. 02XLR cables to and from the sub are separate.
  3. 03Rear controls mean you need reach-around access after positioning.

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Sub8 or Sub12?

Room size and how loud you work. The Sub12 goes to 22Hz with a 12-inch driver and more power for larger rooms. The Sub8 fits small control rooms where the 12 would overload the space.

02Will this fit in a bedroom studio?

It will fit physically, but a small room cannot load a 12-inch sub properly. Room modes will dominate and you will chase peaks and nulls. The Sub8 is the better match.

03How do I set the crossover?

Filter adjustment is on the rear panel. Set it near where your main monitors start rolling off so the handoff stays even through the transition.

04How heavy is it really?

57 lb in a 14 by 24 by 18 inch cabinet. Plan on a second person for the lift and a permanent spot on the floor.
