Questions shoppers ask first

Single-coils or humbuckers?+

Single-coils are bright and articulate (Strat/Tele); humbuckers are thicker and quieter under gain (Les Paul/SG). Match them to the records you love.

Is a more expensive guitar easier to play?+

Better fretwork and setup do make playing easier, but a $300 guitar with a good setup beats a badly set-up $1,000 one. Budget for a setup.

What amp should I pair with it?+

A 10–30 watt modeling combo gives you every sound at home volume. Spend roughly a third of your guitar budget on the amp.
