01What's the difference between TRS and TS?
TRS has an extra ring contact, giving three conductors. That third conductor carries either a balanced signal or the second channel of a stereo pair. TS has two.
02Can I use this for headphones?
Yes. Standard 1/4" headphone plugs are TRS — tip left, ring right, sleeve ground. It's a common repair for a broken headphone plug.
03Does it work in a regular guitar jack?
It fits physically, but the ring contact can short or behave oddly in a mono jack. Use a TS plug for guitar cables.
04Do I need to solder this?
Yes. Three connections solder to the tip, ring and sleeve lugs inside the shell. There's no solderless version.
