If you are in your first year or your lip gives out quickly, no. If you already play a 2.5 or 3 comfortably, go harder.
02How long does a reed last?
Depends on hours played and care. Rotating three or four reeds and letting each dry fully between sessions stretches a box considerably.
03Do these work on tenor sax?
No. Baritone reeds are larger and will not seat correctly on a tenor mouthpiece.
04Do I need to soak them first?
Wet the reed before playing, in your mouth or a cup of water. Playing a dry cane reed makes it chirp and shortens its life.
