Strong match

Who this is for

  • Bari sax players on a hard rubber mouthpiece wanting a firmer, even clamp
  • Replacing a stretched or warped stock ligature
  • Players who dislike screws sitting on top of the reed

Consider the trade-offs

When to look elsewhere

  • Metal bari mouthpieces — this is cut for hard rubber
  • Alto or tenor mouthpieces
  • Anyone needing a cap too, since that isn't part of this

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

Inverted screw placement

The tightening screw sits underneath the mouthpiece, leaving the top of the reed clear and unloaded.

Detail 02

Fits hard rubber bari mouthpieces

Sized to rubber blank diameters. Metal bari mouthpieces are slimmer and won't be gripped correctly.

Detail 03

XLBAR sizing

The extra-large bari size in the range. Confirm you need this rather than a tenor or alto fitting.

Detail 04

$128

Boutique ligature pricing. You're paying for the clamping mechanism, not a tone guarantee.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Check your mouthpiece is hard rubber, not metal — the fit differs
  2. 02No mouthpiece cap comes with it; your existing cap may not clear it
  3. 03Snug the screw by hand only — overtightening can distort a rubber blank

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Will this fit a metal bari mouthpiece?

No. This one is sized for hard rubber baritone mouthpieces. Metal blanks have a smaller outside diameter and need the metal-fit version.

02What does inverted screw mean?

The adjusting screw is on the underside of the mouthpiece instead of over the reed, so nothing presses down on the reed's top surface.

03Does a cap come with it?

No. Ligature only. Also check that your current cap still slides on over it.

04Will my old cap still fit?

It may not. Ligature profiles differ, and a cap cut for a slim stock ligature can catch. Try it before you rely on it.
