Strong match

Who this is for

  • Swapping a weak stock soapbar in a P90-routed guitar
  • Bridge position players who want more output and drive
  • Matching cream hardware on a light-finished body

Consider the trade-offs

When to look elsewhere

  • Guitars routed for humbuckers or single-coil strat/tele pickups
  • Players who want quiet operation under high gain or lights
  • Neck position — this is wound for the bridge

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

P90 soapbar

Single-coil in a wide, flat rectangular case. It drops into a soapbar route only — not a humbucker or strat cavity.

Detail 02

Hot wound

More output than a standard P90, so it pushes an amp into breakup sooner and thickens the low mids.

Detail 03

Bridge position

Wound hotter than a matching neck unit to balance volume against the neck pickup's natural advantage.

Detail 04

Cream cover

Cosmetic only. Cream reads warmer than white and matches aged plastics; it will not match bright white parts exactly.

Detail 05

Single coil design

It hums near dimmers, monitors and neon. Turning the guitar changes how much you pick up.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Measure your existing pickup route — soapbar cavities differ from humbucker and single-coil ones
  2. 02Sold as one pickup only. No pots, wire, or hardware included
  3. 03Installation means soldering. Budget for a tech if you don't solder

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Will this fit my humbucker route?

Not directly. A soapbar P90 is longer and flatter than a humbucker. You would need a mounting ring or adapter made for that swap, or new routing.

02Is this louder than a standard P90?

Yes. It is a hot-wound version, so output is higher and the amp breaks up earlier. Cleans stay usable but arrive with more grit at the same volume.

03Does it hum?

Yes. P90s are single coils and pick up electrical noise from lighting and screens. That is normal for the design, not a fault in this pickup.

04Can I use it in the neck position?

Physically it will fit a neck soapbar route, but it is wound for bridge output. In the neck it will be louder and darker than the bridge pickup it sits opposite.
