Strong match

Who this is for

  • Les Paul or SG necks needing a less muddy voice
  • Blues and classic rock where cleans stay defined
  • Players who roll the volume knob to clean up

Consider the trade-offs

When to look elsewhere

  • Metal players wanting maximum output and compression
  • Guitars with single-coil-sized routes only
  • Anyone expecting a plug-in swap without soldering

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

Full-size humbucker

Needs a standard humbucker route and mounting ring or direct-mount holes. Will not fit a Strat single-coil slot.

Detail 02

Neck position

Wound for the neck, where strings swing widest. A bridge pickup here sounds thin and weak.

Detail 03

Black/cream (zebra)

Uncovered bobbins in two colors. Visible through the route, so it changes the guitar's look.

Detail 04

Vintage-leaning output

Cleans up when you back off the guitar volume instead of staying saturated. More dynamic, less compressed.

Detail 05

Uncovered

No metal cover means slightly more top end. Adding a cover later requires soldering it on.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Soldering required at the pot and switch. Not a drop-in connector swap.
  2. 02Pickup only. No mounting ring, screws, springs, pots or wire.
  3. 03Zebra bobbins are visible. Order a covered version if you want hidden coils.

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Will this fit a Les Paul?

Yes, it is a standard full-size humbucker and fits standard humbucker routes and mounting rings. Confirm whether your guitar direct-mounts to the body or uses a ring, since hardware is not included.

02Is this hot enough for hard rock?

It sits in the vintage output range, not the high-output range. It drives an already-cranked amp fine but will not deliver the compressed saturation of a ceramic high-output pickup on its own.

03Can I put it in the bridge?

It will fit, but this is the neck-position version. Neck pickups are wound lower and sound weaker and thinner in the bridge slot.

04Does the zebra color affect the sound?

No. Bobbin color is cosmetic. The only tonal variable in appearance is whether a metal cover is fitted, which slightly softens the top end.
