Independent shopping perspective
The Korena take
Psyclone Hot is a high-output humbucker designed as a direct replacement for guitars routed for Filter'Tron-style pickups. Its voice is built around punchy mids, tight lows, and smooth treble, with a lower-output neck pickup and a hotter bridge pickup. The set uses a single-conductor lead wire and a hum-canceling design; the bridge pickup adds push-pull coil split. Direct-mount and pickup-ring hardware are included, giving the installer two stated mounting approaches. It is handmade in Santa Barbara, California, and finished in gold.
Strong match
Who this is for
- Replacing pickups in a guitar already routed for Filter'Tron-style pickups.
- A setup requiring either direct mounting or pickup-ring mounting hardware.
- High-energy rhythm and lead playing using the hotter bridge pickup and lower-output neck pickup.
Consider the trade-offs
When to look elsewhere
- Guitars not routed for Filter'Tron-style pickups, since this is designed as a direct replacement for that routing.
