Strong match

Who this is for

  • Converting a two-humbucker guitar to Blackouts in a single install
  • Players who want matched neck and bridge output from the start
  • Anyone who plans to change voicings later without pulling the coils

Consider the trade-offs

When to look elsewhere

  • Single-pickup or HSS guitars — this is a two-humbucker set
  • Players unwilling to fit a preamp and power source in the cavity
  • Anyone wanting a solder-free five-minute swap

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

HH configuration

Bridge and neck coils are voiced as a pair, so pickup switching stays balanced in volume.

Detail 02

Preamp included

This is the complete system. The coil packs sold on their own do not work without it.

Detail 03

Modular coil-plus-preamp design

Voicing lives in the preamp, so you can change the character later without re-routing or re-soldering coils.

Detail 04

Active circuit

A powered preamp means a battery and its wiring have to live in the control cavity.

Detail 05

$249 complete

Cheaper than two coil packs at $115 each plus a preamp bought separately.

Detail 06

Black covers

Standard humbucker footprint in black. Existing chrome or gold rings will no longer match.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Battery, battery box and cavity space are your responsibility, not included
  2. 02Requires soldering and a full control-cavity rewire — budget for a tech if unsure
  3. 03Confirm both routes are full-size humbucker before ordering

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Does this include everything I need?

It includes both coil packs and the preamp. You still supply the battery, battery compartment, pots and any cavity shielding your install needs.

02Will this fit my HSS guitar?

No. This is an HH set with two humbucker-size coil packs. An HSS guitar has a single-coil route in the middle or neck that these will not fill.

03Can I install it myself?

Yes if you can solder and are comfortable rewiring a control cavity. Active systems add battery wiring, so a tech is the safer route for a first install.

04Why buy the set instead of the parts?

At $249 it costs less than two $115 coil packs plus a separate preamp, and the neck and bridge coils are matched as a pair.
