01What's the difference between the 13B and the 13A4?
Same .660 inch diameter. The 13B has a deeper B cup and a narrower round rim, so more tone and flexibility. The 13A4 has a shallow A cup and semi-flat #4 rim for range and endurance.
02Is the 13B a good all-around mouthpiece?
Yes, within limits. The medium diameter and medium-small cup handle concert, jazz and general playing. If your work is mostly high lead, a shallow A cup piece will serve you better.
03Does gold plating change the sound?
Not meaningfully. The difference is in feel: gold is slicker on the lip and non-reactive. Cup depth, rim contour and throat are what shape the sound.
04Will this fit a cornet?
No. This is a trumpet shank. Cornets take a shorter, smaller shank, so it won't seat correctly in a cornet receiver.
