01What's the difference between the 13A4a and the 13A4?
Only the backbore. Both share the .660-inch cup, shallow A cup and number 4 rim. The 13A4a uses a tight a-backbore for upper-register support; the 13A4's standard c-backbore feels freer.
02Will this fit a trumpet?
No. It is a cornet mouthpiece and the shank is cut for a cornet receiver.
03Is this a good mouthpiece for a student?
Not really. The shallow cup and tight backbore suit lead playing. A developing player is better served by the 13, whose rounder rim and C cup give more tone and flexibility.
04Will the shallow cup hurt my low register?
It gives up some depth and body down low. That is the trade for easier high notes. If you need both ends equally, look at a C or D cup in the same .660–.665 inch range.
