It is Remo's translucent textured film. It sits between clear and coated in character — more articulate and open than a coated head, warmer than a plain clear one.
02Can I use this on my tom?
No. The Crimplock hoop is molded onto the head and requires marching tenor hardware. It cannot be tensioned on a conventional drum.
03Is Emperor thicker than Ambassador?
Yes. Emperor is two plies, which drops the pitch, shortens sustain and holds up longer under heavy playing.
04Do I need to tune it after installing?
Yes. Any new head needs seating and tensioning, and it will need retuning again after the first session as the film settles.
