Product studyRemo Pinstripe Tom Drum Head Pack Standard Clear

Strong match

Who this is for

  • Rock and pop kits where toms need punch instead of ring
  • Drummers currently taping gels and moongels onto every tom
  • Recording sessions that want control before the mics go up

Consider the trade-offs

When to look elsewhere

  • Brush players — clear film has no surface texture to catch bristles
  • Jazz or orchestral use where long, open tom sustain is the point
  • Kits with tom diameters outside the pack's sizes

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

Two-ply with damping ring

An oil-damped ring between the plies kills overtones, drops perceived pitch, and cuts decay short.

Detail 02

Clear film

Brighter stick attack and more definition than coated, at the cost of brush compatibility.

Detail 03

Standard pack

Sized for the common three-tom five-piece layout. Check your own diameters against the listed sizes.

Detail 04

Batter heads

These mount on top. The bottom resonant heads stay as they are and still shape the sound.

Detail 05

Three-head pack

Cheaper per head than buying singles, but you are locked into the pack's diameters.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Confirm your rack and floor tom diameters against the pack sizes first
  2. 02Resonant bottom heads are not included; worn ones limit the improvement
  3. 03New heads stretch and drop in pitch — plan a full retune after an hour

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01What tom sizes does the Standard pack cover?

It is built for the usual three-tom arrangement on a five-piece kit. Measure your shells across the top and match them to the listed diameters before ordering.

02Pinstripe or Emperor for toms?

Pinstripe has a damping ring between the plies, so it is drier, lower and shorter. Emperor is two-ply without it — more sustain and openness. Choose Pinstripe if your toms ring too long.

03Can these go on the bottom of my toms?

They are batter heads. A thick damped head underneath chokes the drum badly. Use thinner resonant heads on the bottom instead.

04Will new heads improve a cheap kit?

Noticeably. On entry-level drums the heads matter more than the shells. Expect fuller lows and much less uncontrolled ring once tuned.
