The front. Resonant means the non-batter side, facing the audience. The pedal beater strikes the batter head on the opposite side.
02Does it come with a hole in it?
No. It ships solid. If you want a mic port you cut it yourself, which cannot be undone.
03Will it fit a 20 or 24 inch kick?
No. Drum heads are sized to the shell diameter and have no give. A 22-inch head only fits a 22-inch bass drum.
04How is ebony different from a clear head?
The black pigment adds a little mass to the film. That trims top end and shortens sustain slightly, for a darker, drier note.
