Independent shopping perspective

The Korena take

Thin clear 14" snare-side head for marching snares. The bottom head that lets the snare wires speak. Replacement part, not an upgrade.

Strong match

Who this is for

  • Replacing a torn or dead snare-side head on a marching snare
  • Drum lines needing a consistent, standard bottom head
  • Restoring snare response that has gone dull and slow

Consider the trade-offs

When to look elsewhere

  • Anyone needing a batter head — this cannot take stick strikes
  • Kit snares wanting maximum sustain from a thicker bottom head
  • Drums measuring 13" or 15" across

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

Snare side

Extremely thin film built to vibrate against the snare wires. It will tear quickly if struck with a stick.

Detail 02

Ambassador weight

Remo's standard thickness — the baseline response most drummers compare other snare-side heads against.

Detail 03

Clear film

No coating, so nothing damps the film. Maximum sensitivity and a crisp, immediate snare response.

Detail 04

Marching head

Built for the higher tensions marching snares run, where a standard kit snare-side head is more likely to fail.

Detail 05

14 in.

Fits 14" snare shells. Measure the drum's diameter, not the outer hoop.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Loosen the snare wires fully before removing the old head or you will tear this one
  2. 02Tension evenly in small increments — thin film splits fast if pulled unevenly
  3. 03One head only; batter head and snare wires are separate

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Can I use this as a top head?

No. Snare-side film is a fraction of the thickness of a batter head. A few normal strikes will split it.

02How tight should it be?

Snare-side heads run tighter than batter heads. Go up in small even turns around the drum and stop when the snare response gets crisp and quick.

03Will it fit a regular drum set snare?

It fits any 14" snare. It is built for marching tensions, so on a kit snare tuned lower you may not notice the difference from a standard snare-side head.

04Why did my old one tear?

Usually a stray rimshot, a dented hoop edge, or uneven tensioning. Snare wires left tight during a head change also cut the film.
