01Will this fit a Stratocaster?
A Strat uses a recessed cup jack in the body face, not a flat-plate mount. Check what your guitar has before ordering. Telecasters and Les Pauls are the more typical fits.
02Do I need to solder this in?
Yes. Two connections: hot from the volume pot to the tip lug, ground to the sleeve lug. A basic 25-40W iron handles it.
03Why does my guitar crackle when I wiggle the cable?
Usually a loose jack nut or worn contact spring inside the jack. Tighten the nut first. If it still crackles, replace the jack.
04Does this work for bass too?
Yes. Passive bass output wiring is identical to guitar. Active basses with a battery often use a stereo jack as a power switch, which this is not.
