Independent shopping perspective
The Korena take
MEINL’s 20-inch Classics Custom Dark Ride combines a dark finish, full lathing, and hand-hammered bronze construction. Light strokes bring out a shimmering wash; with more force, it develops a fuller spread of overtones with some trashy edge. It retains definition and warmth while covering ride patterns, crash work, accents, and crescendos, so a drummer can move between those roles without changing cymbals.
Strong match
Who this is for
- Players moving between ride patterns, crash passages, accents, and crescendos within one musical arrangement.
- Rock, jazz, and electronic settings where a darker voice and clear articulation are both useful.
