01What reed strength should I use with a 8*?
Go softer than your current setup. Wide tip openings need less reed resistance to speak freely. Many players drop a full strength or more when moving to a .115.
02Will this fit my alto?
No. This is cut for tenor saxophone. The shank diameter and chamber are sized to a tenor neck cork.
03Is this too much mouthpiece for an intermediate player?
Likely, yes. A .115 tip demands air support and embouchure control. A narrower tip is easier to control and stay in tune with.
04What is the difference between the 8* and the 7?
Tip opening. The 8* is .115, the 7 is .100. The 8* is more open, louder and more flexible; the 7 is tighter and easier to control.
