01How long does a synthetic reed last?
Far longer than cane — typically months of regular playing rather than days or weeks. It ends when the tip chips or wear changes the response, not from drying out.
02Do I need to soak it before playing?
No. Synthetic reeds do not absorb water. A quick wet is enough to seat it on the mouthpiece and you can play immediately.
03What cane strength is medium hard closest to?
Roughly in the 2.5 to 3 range on most cane scales, though synthetic response differs. If you play a 3 cane reed, medium hard is a reasonable starting point.
04Will this work on my tenor?
No. This is cut for alto saxophone. Tenor uses a larger reed and the alto cut will not seal properly on a tenor mouthpiece.
