01Do I need to soak it before playing?
No. Synthetic reeds don't absorb water. Put it on the mouthpiece and play. That's the main practical difference from cane.
02Is strength 2 right for a beginner?
Usually yes. A soft reed needs less air pressure and a less developed embouchure to get a tone, which is where most beginners are.
03Will this fit my tenor sax?
No. This is cut for alto. Tenor reeds are wider and longer; an alto reed on a tenor mouthpiece will leak air at the rails.
04How long does it last compared to cane?
Considerably longer — it doesn't break down from moisture cycles the way cane does. It eventually wears at the tip and loses response.
