01What does a string guide actually do?
It presses the two thinnest strings down behind the nut so they hold a steady break angle. Without enough angle those strings can buzz or pop out of the nut slots.
02Will this fit my Stratocaster?
It's specified for a Telecaster headstock. Strat layouts differ in spacing and number of guides, so check your hole position before assuming it drops in.
03Do I have to take the strings off?
At least the top two. The guide sits directly in their path, so loosen and lift them clear before unscrewing anything.
04Will this change my tone?
No. It's a mechanical retainer. It can stop buzzing and improve tuning stability, but it doesn't alter the sound of the pickups or strings.
