01Can I run it with no damping ring?
Yes. Leave the channel empty for a more open, longer-sustaining kick, then add the ring back when you want it tighter.
02Do I still need a pillow inside the drum?
Most players do not. The external ring covers typical muffling needs. A pillow on top of it will kill nearly all sustain.
03Will it fit a 22 inch bass drum?
No. Bass drum heads are sized to the shell diameter. A 24-inch head will not seat on a 22-inch drum.
04Does the beater wear it out fast?
Beaters wear any batter head over time. Keep the strike point centered and consider an impact patch if you play hard.
