Independent shopping perspective
The Korena take
Its roasted figured maple neck and fingerboard receive a gunstock-oil and hand-rubbed wax treatment, paired with an asymmetrical D profile and 22 stainless-steel frets. The electronics stay deliberately direct—two custom DiMarzio humbuckers, one volume control, and a three-way toggle—while the double-locking tremolo is set up for downward pitch movement only.
Strong match
Who this is for
- Quick pickup changes between bridge, combined, and neck positions during a set.
- Players wanting a direct two-humbucker control layout with one volume knob.
- Tremolo work based on lowering pitch, with fine tuners at the bridge.
Consider the trade-offs
When to look elsewhere
- Left-handed players.
- Players who need a tremolo designed for upward pitch movement.
