02Are 9s too light for me?
They're the easiest common gauge to bend and fret, which suits lead playing and lighter hands. If you dig in hard or tune down, you'll likely prefer .010s.
03Can I use these for drop tuning?
Not well. A .042 low string loses tension quickly when tuned below standard and will feel loose and buzz. Go heavier for dropped tunings.
04Do I need to change my setup?
If you're coming from a heavier gauge, yes. Less string tension means less pull on the neck, so the truss rod and intonation usually need adjusting.
