01Will this fit a 22-inch bass drum?
It will sit inside one, but it's sized for an 18" drum. In a larger shell it covers proportionally less head, so damping is lighter.
02Does it kill all the resonance?
That depends on placement. Pressed against both heads it's very dead; pulled toward the center of the shell it only trims the tail.
03Do I need a port hole in my front head?
No, but it helps. Without a port you have to loosen and remove the reso head to place or adjust the pillow.
04Can I use this instead of a muffled bass drum head?
Yes. A pillow lets you dial damping by moving it, where a pre-muffled head is fixed. Using both together gets very dry.
