Detail 01
16.85mm cup diameter
Mid-size for the range. More lip inside the cup than a 3, so lower notes open up and the sound broadens.

Independent shopping perspective
The Korena take
A silver-plated trumpet mouthpiece in the 2 size, with a heavier blank. For players who want a fuller, more stable sound than a stock piece.
Strong match
Who this is for
- Players wanting more core and body than a stock mouthpiece
- Symphonic and concert band work needing a broad sound
- Trumpeters who find very small cups choke their low register
Consider the trade-offs
When to look elsewhere
- Lead and screamer players chasing an ultra-shallow, cutting top end
- Beginners still building embouchure on a smaller, easier cup
- Anyone with a nickel or silver plating skin sensitivity
What matters in use
The specifications, translated
Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.
Detail 02
5.08mm rim width
A fairly wide, cushioned rim. Spreads pressure over more lip area, which helps endurance on long sets.
Detail 03
3.70mm throat
Standard-ish bore. Gives more resistance than the 3.90mm sizes, so air feels supported rather than wide open.
Detail 04
Barrel backbore
Straight-walled taper below the throat. Adds body and center to the tone rather than brightening it.
Detail 05
HeavyTop blank
Extra mass around the cup damps vibration in the mouthpiece itself. Notes slot more firmly and feel steadier.
Detail 06
Silver plating
Grippier and warmer against the lip than gold. Will tarnish; needs occasional polishing to stay clean.
Final check
Know before you order
- 01Mouthpiece only. No pouch, case, or cleaning brush included.
- 02Numbering runs backwards: 1 is the largest cup, 3 is smaller.
- 03Switching cup size takes weeks of adjustment. Keep your old piece.
Product questions
Before you decide
Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.
01How does the 2 compare to the 3?
The 2 has a slightly larger cup, 16.85mm versus 16.75mm, and a marginally wider rim. Fuller low and middle register, a little more air required.
02Will it fit my trumpet?
It uses a standard trumpet shank and drops into standard Bb, C, and piccolo trumpet receivers. It is not a cornet or flugelhorn shank.
03Is this good for lead playing?
Not the obvious choice. The 2 is a broader, fuller mouthpiece aimed at symphonic work. Shallower, smaller cups suit high lead lines better.
04Does the heavier blank actually change anything?
Yes, mostly in feel. Added mass damps mouthpiece vibration, so notes lock in more firmly and the sound holds together at volume.
