01Are half rounds the same as flatwounds?
No. Flatwounds are wound with flat ribbon wire. Half rounds start as roundwound and are ground smooth, so they sit between the two in feel and attack.
02Will these damage my fretboard?
No. The smooth surface causes noticeably less wear on frets and fingerboards than roundwound strings, which is a common reason players switch to them.
03Do they work for slap?
You can slap them, but the ground surface takes off some of the top-end snap that slap playing relies on. Roundwounds suit that style better.
04Will they fit a 5-string?
This is a 4-string set. A five-string bass needs a dedicated 5-string set with the extra low string.
