01Will these fit a 34" bass?
Probably too long. Super-long scale is cut for 35"–36" instruments and string-through-body bridges. On a 34" bass the tapered winding can run past the nut.
02Are flatwounds good for fretless?
Yes. The smooth outer wrap causes far less wear on an unlined or coated fingerboard than roundwound strings, and the darker tone suits fretless well.
03How long do flatwounds last?
Much longer than roundwounds. There is no wound groove for dirt and sweat to collect in, so the tone stays consistent for months or years of play.
04Why do these cost more than the nickel sets?
Flatwound construction takes more material and more steps. The tradeoff is a set that holds its sound far longer than a roundwound set.
