Strong match

Who this is for

  • Players who bend the top strings but want tight low strings
  • Drop or half-step-down tuning without the wounds going floppy
  • Rhythm and lead in the same set, no compromise on either

Consider the trade-offs

When to look elsewhere

  • Players who want uniform feel and tension across all six strings
  • Acoustic guitars — these are electric strings, magnetically wound for pickups
  • Anyone chasing maximum string life; these are uncoated

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

Hybrid gauge

Light plain strings, heavier wound strings. Easy bends up top, firm attack and clear pitch on the low end.

Detail 02

Nickel-plated

A steel core with nickel plating. Brighter and more cutting than pure nickel, warmer than plain stainless.

Detail 03

Light gauge on the plain strings

Less finger pressure for bends and vibrato. Also less tension, so a lighter touch keeps them in tune.

Detail 04

Electric guitar strings

Ferrous wrap so pickups read them. They will not drive an acoustic guitar's top properly.

Detail 05

Uncoated

Full brightness out of the pack and a natural feel under the fingers, but they dull faster than coated sets.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01One set, six strings. No picks, tools or winders included
  2. 02Changing gauge shifts neck relief and intonation — a setup may be needed
  3. 03Wipe strings down after playing; uncoated nickel dulls fastest from hand oils

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Will these work on my acoustic guitar?

No. These are electric strings. Use the phosphor bronze acoustic sets instead — acoustic guitars need bronze windings to move the top and produce volume.

02What does hybrid gauge actually mean?

The three plain strings are light for easy bending; the three wound strings are heavier for a tighter, punchier low end. It's a light top with a heavy bottom.

03Do I need a setup after switching to these?

Possibly. Changing string gauge changes pull on the neck. If the action or intonation shifts, adjust the truss rod and saddles, or have a tech do it.

04Are these good for drop tuning?

The heavier wound strings hold tension better when you drop the low E, so they stay tighter than a straight light set. Very low tunings may still want heavier gauges.
