No. It is a theory and fretboard reference. You should already be able to fret notes and play basic lines before it becomes useful.
02Does it use tab or standard notation?
It is built around fretboard diagrams showing scale and chord shapes, so you can use it without strong notation reading.
03Will this work for 5-string bass?
The shapes are written for standard bass tuning. On a 5-string, patterns on the top four strings apply directly and extend down.
04Is there a guitar version?
This edition is written for bass. Its layout follows bass tuning and will not map cleanly to a guitar neck.
