It will pass signal, but the band frequencies are chosen for bass. A guitar's useful range sits above much of what this pedal controls, so you get limited shaping.
02Does it run on a 9V battery?
It uses the standard BOSS compact power arrangement — a 9V battery or a 9V adapter. Battery life drops fast with regular use, so most players run an adapter.
03Where should it go in my signal chain?
In front of the amp works for shaping what hits your other pedals. In an effects loop it shapes the amp's own voice. Both are common; try the loop first if your amp has one.
04Will it fix a muddy bass tone?
It can cut the low-mid buildup that usually causes mud. It cannot add clarity that is not in the instrument — a pickup or string change may do more.
