The screws move underneath the mouthpiece, so the hardware is off the top of the reed. Some players prefer the feel and the cleaner reed surface; adjustment then happens from below.
02Does a cap come with it?
No. This is the ligature alone. Order a bass clarinet mouthpiece cap separately if you need one for storage.
03Will it fit a Bb clarinet mouthpiece?
No. This is cut for the larger bass clarinet mouthpiece. On a Bb soprano mouthpiece it will not tighten down enough to hold a reed.
04How tight should I make the screws?
Only until the reed stops shifting under playing pressure. Cranking down flattens the reed against the table and chokes the response, and it can distort the band over time.
