  • Players who want the softer feel of fabric or leather

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

Alto sizing

Ligatures are sized to the mouthpiece, not the horn. An alto one will not clamp a tenor or soprano piece.

Detail 02

Regular, not inverted

Screws sit on the top side and tighten from above — the orientation most players learn on.

Detail 03

Nickel finish

Plated metal wipes clean and resists corrosion from handling, though it dulls and shows fingerprints over years.

Detail 04

Rigid metal band

Holds its shape, so reed tension stays consistent every time you mount a reed. Fabric bands stretch.

Detail 05

$34.99

Above a stock throw-in ligature, below boutique metal. Priced as a straightforward replacement or first upgrade.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Ligature only — no mouthpiece, cap, or reed included
  2. 02Check your mouthpiece diameter; blanks vary between makers even within alto
  3. 03Snug is enough — overtightening crushes the reed rails and kills response

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01Will this fit a tenor sax?

No. It is cut for alto mouthpieces. A tenor mouthpiece is larger in diameter and the band will not close around it.

02What is the difference between regular and inverted?

Regular puts the tightening screws on the top of the mouthpiece; inverted puts them underneath, against the reed side. This is the regular version.

03Does it come with a mouthpiece cap?

No. This is the ligature by itself. If your cap is missing you will need to buy one separately.

04Will it fit a hard rubber mouthpiece?

Standard hard rubber alto blanks are the intended fit. Metal alto mouthpieces are usually narrower and may not seat tightly.
