Strong match

Who this is for

  • Tenor players moving off the mouthpiece that came with the horn
  • Doublers who want a second tenor piece with a known facing
  • Players who already know an M7-size opening suits them

Consider the trade-offs

When to look elsewhere

  • Alto, soprano or baritone players — this is tenor only
  • Beginners still on a school-issued setup and rented horn
  • Anyone needing a complete kit with ligature and cap

What matters in use

The specifications, translated

Catalog numbers tell only part of the story. These are the details most likely to change how this product feels, sounds, or fits into a setup.

Detail 01

M7 facing

In Beechler's numbering the larger the number, the wider the tip opening. M7 sits below the M8.

Detail 02

Tenor-specific shank

The bore and shank are cut for a tenor neck cork. It will not seat on alto or soprano.

Detail 03

Diamond inlay

The inlay marks the model line. It sits on the body and does not affect how the piece plays.

Detail 04

$195 price point

Above stock-mouthpiece territory, below custom hand-faced work. A step-up piece rather than a final one.

Detail 05

Model-numbered facing

Facings are consistent across the line, so you can move up or down a number later without relearning the whole piece.

Final check

Know before you order

  1. 01Ligature and cap are not included — check yours fits this body
  2. 02Tip opening changes the reed strength you need; expect to re-test reeds
  3. 03Your neck cork may need sanding or building up to seat properly

Product questions

Before you decide

Straight answers to the questions shoppers most often ask about this product.

01What horn does this fit?

Tenor saxophone only. The shank is sized for a tenor neck cork and won't fit alto, soprano or baritone necks.

02Will my current ligature work?

Only if it's a tenor ligature sized to this body. Ligatures are not interchangeable across mouthpiece shapes, so measure or try before assuming.

03What's the difference between the M7 and M8?

The facing number. M8 is the more open of the two; M7 is the tighter tip opening and generally takes a slightly harder reed.

04Does it come with a reed?

No. Reeds are bought separately, and you'll want to try a couple of strengths against this facing before settling.
