Top. It is a batter head with a control ring underneath, meant to be struck. Leave your resonant bottom head in place and tune it separately.
02Will this fit a 12-inch snare?
It will physically fit a 12-inch shell, but it is built as a tom head. On a snare the control ring kills the crack you usually want.
03Do I still need moongel with this?
Usually not. The bonded control ring already cuts the ring at the edge, which is what moongel is doing on an undamped head.
04Can I use brushes on it?
