The drum. Heads are named for the shell diameter they fit, so a 13-inch head goes on a 13-inch tom. Measure across the shell, not the hoop.
02Do I need a drum key?
Yes. Tension rods have to come off to remove the old head and go back on evenly to tune the new one. No key is included here.
03Can I use it on the bottom of the tom?
It is a 13-inch tom head, so it will physically fit either side of a 13-inch tom. Resonant sides are usually tuned lighter than the batter side.
