01Clear or coated — which do I want?
Clear is brighter with more sustain and suits stick playing. Coated is drier and gives brushes something to catch. If you play brushes at all, choose coated.
02Is this a batter or resonant head?
It is a tom head. Clear film gets used on both the top and bottom of toms, so it works on either side.
03Will it fit an 18-inch bass drum?
The diameter matches, but this is built for tom tension. A bass drum head is a different build and is the right choice there.
04Do I need any tools?
A drum key, to back the tension rods off and retension the new head evenly. One is not included.
