Measure across the top of the drum shell, not the metal hoop. A 16-inch shell takes a 16-inch head.
02Can I use this on a snare drum?
No. This is a tom head. Snare batters are made for much higher tension and a different feel.
03Will it work as a resonant bottom head?
You can mount it on the bottom, but a black opaque head there will damp and darken the drum more than a thin resonant head.
04Do I need a special key or tool?
