It is sized for tenor trombone. A bass trombone bell is larger, so this will sit too deep or fail to seat securely.
02Does a straight mute make the trombone quieter?
Somewhat, but its main job is changing the tone to a brighter, more focused sound. It is not a dedicated practice mute.
03Why does my tuning go sharp with the mute in?
The mute restricts the bell and raises pitch. Pull the tuning slide out slightly while muted and push it back when you remove the mute.
